BECHTELSVILLE, PA. - The historic 60th anniversary season of professional auto racing begins at Grandview Speedway on Saturday, April 2.

The high banked 1/3-mile clay oval will once again kick off the new season with the running of the Bruce Rogers Memorial Money Maker for Big Block/Small Block Modifieds.

BECHTELSVILLE, PA (AUGUST 26, 2021) – NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series returned to Grandview Speedway on Thursday Night for a 410 Sprint Car and Modified doubleheader.  Tyler “Sunshine” Courtney picked up the 6th Annual Levan Machine and Truck Equipment Thunder Cup and Brett “The Threat” Kressley won the 358 Modified main event worth $3,500  in a single-lap shootout to the checkered flag.    A  field of twenty-six 410 sprints and thirty modifieds filled the pit area on a hot, hot summer night  that also offer the threat of rain all around the Bechtelsville speedway.  The Pioneer Pole Building $1,500 first time Thunder on the Hill modified winner bonus  remained unclaimed although Matt Stangle was in the hunt for the $5,000 first place prize after leading a good portion of the race.   Stangle turned in  a very impressive fourth place finish. Despite threatening wet weather Doug Manmiller was able to win the 30-lap NASCAR T.P.Trailers Modified feature for the first time this season coming from 13th starting spot at Grandview Speedway on Saturday. Ten time track Modified champion Jeff Strunk came from 12th position at the start in the 28 car starting field to finish second. T.P. Truck Equipment Sportsman point leader Kenny Gilmore, coming from 14th starting spot, drove to his second win of the season in the 25-lap Sportsman main event. Second place went to Jimmy Leiby. Trailers feature on Saturday night at Grandview Speedway. Forrest Rogers was the man behind the vision to create the 1/3-mile banked clay Berks County oval. The 11-time and defending point champion went on to record his ninth victory in the event for a hefty $10,000 payday. It was his fifth win of the season and Saturday night career win number 114. In fact Kressley was able to increase his lead because challenger, defending champion Craig Von Dohren had an even tougher night. With six Saturdays to go in the point battle, part of the Advance Auto Parts Weekly Racing Series, Kressley has 3637 points with five wins to his credit. Von Dohren has three wins and 3478 points. BECHTELSVILLE, PA. August 1, 2021 . . . Kevin Graver Jr. took a few weeks off from racing at the 1/3mile high banks of Grandview Speedway to regroup after struggling with various car issues.

The team returned on Saturday night and made their presence known. Graver Jr. overtook the lead following a multi car homestretch accident with five laps in the books and went on to score his first career victory at the track in the 358 NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series 30-lap T.P. Trailers Modified feature. Graver Jr., who mainly ran asphalt, adjusted to the change and couldn’t believe he was in victory lane, but he just did his thing and ran his line as the race progressed. For the second time this season defending NASCAR T.P.Trailers Modified champion Craig Von Dohren was able to charge to victory Saturday night in the 30 Modified feature at Grandview Speedway. Von Dohren, coming from 14th starting spot, was able to grab the top spot and gain a few points on current Modified point leader Brett Kressley who finished second after starting 15th..  Kyle Smith was the winner of the T.P.Truck Equipment feature finishing ahead of Steve Young. A big night of racing is planned as the NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series returns to the Grandview Speedway on Tuesday night, August 3.   The NOS Energy USAC National Eastern Midget Week  kicks off at Grandview for the first of five consecutive nights of racing.   The USAC National Midget Series event will offer time trials, heat race qualifying and the 30 lap $4,000 to win Ken Brenn Midget Masters.   Also on the program will be the Modifieds taking part in a series of qualifying events leading up to the 30 lap feature that will pay $5,000 to any first time Thunder feature winner and $3,500 to any previous Thunder winner.   Pioneer Pole Buildings has posted the first time winners bonus as GT Radiators added $500 for any repeat modified winner, an extra $200 to finish second and $100 to win each modified heat.   Gates open at 5 PM with race time set for 7:30 PM. In a statement from Grandview Speedway general manager Tina Rogers a tie for first spot in the June 26 T.P.Trailers NASCAR Modified feature has been announced. “I spoke with both Brett and Craig. I explained the situation with what the scorers saw and what the transponder read.  After further review and being in contact with MyLaps Sports timing, they assured me it is possible for the loop and timing system to detect 2 cars with different transponders even if they cross the line at the same time. However, Brett Kressley transponder was not detected by the transponder system, although the hand scorers felt he was ahead. Since the finish was so very close, and you need both scorers and a transponder system to properly score an event, the track management has decided the fairest thing to do with this close of a finish would be to call it an even finish, and award Brett and Craig the win. They will both receive the full points for a win.  Brett and Craig were understanding of the situation and agreed upon management decisions.  We would like to thank both Brett and Craig for their professionalism through this process.” READ MORE..

BECHTELSVILLE, PA June 19, 2021 . . . Rain and pending storms have forced the cancellation of the tripleheader show of racing scheduled for the Grandview Speedway Saturday evening. Efforts will be made to reschedule the Wingless Super Sportsman that had been planned for their only appearance of the season for a later date. And the gifts planned for the first 50 dads through the main gate and two free passes for the oldest and youngest dads will be carried over to Saturday June 26 when a tripleheader show of racing featuring the T.P.Trailers Modifieds, T.P.Truck Equipment Sportsman and Outlaw Series Vintage Racers will be offered. Adult admission will be just $15 with youngsters 11 and younger admitted free. With four feature wins to his credit and 2330 points Brett Kressley continues to lead the standings in the chase for the NASCAR T.P.Trailer Modified division point standings part of the Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series. The veteran racing talent is looking for his first Modified crown at Grandview Speedway. Close behind is defending champion Craig Von Dohren, an 11 time champion at the Bechtelsville clay oval. Von Dohren has earned one feature win and 2262 points. Following behind Von Dohren is Jared Umbenhauer who has visited victory lane once and has 2076 counters. Six time champ Duane Howard has managed to win one and piled up 1848. Another multi time champ, Jeff Strunk, has not cracked victory lane but being consistent has earned him 1765 points. It is with great disappointment that the Thunder on the Hill Racing Series and Grandview Speedway are canceling their racing program tonight due to excessive rainfall over the past several days and a forecast of additional rain into the evening.    The grounds are extremely saturated and the damp and cold weather would not offer comfortable conditions for race fans or competitors.   The Triple Roaring 20’s had an entry list of forty-nine modifieds and an expected thirty sportsman entries.   The Triple Roaring 20’s and Sportsman is again on the Thunder Series schedule on Saturday, October 16 at 6 PM.   A special thank you goes out to all the competitors who pre-entered and the number of fans that requested advance tickets.  This event has certainly become a favorite race for competitors and fans.
